A morning run along the beach and the discovery of a body buried in a unique fashion leads to a global terrorist plot and the Oak Island treasure.This is an early work by the author, and there are some issues here and there. I'd classify this as a "beach" read and it moves along pretty quick.
My only issues were the same as most other books of this type; that is when it comes to describing some of the tech or weapons that the characters are using. I can get over the clip/magazine thing (I'm tired of correcting people over it anyway) but he almost lost me at "assault bullets"... That was tough to get over.
I've got other irons in the fire, but I'll give book two in the series later on.

Loved the book. Couldn't wait to see what happened next as I was reading. Loved the characters and hope the author will continue another story line with the main characters. Easy to read and become absorbed in the story. The descriptions made me feel that I was there in Nova Scotia. Mystery, murder, intrigue, treasure and a disappearing boat- what more could you want for a great entertaining read!!
This was my first C. K. Phillips story. I would recommend it to anyone who likes an easy reading adventure plot. The characters are tough and gritty, with a touch of humor. Looking forward to the next book from this writer.
In his book, Comes the Awakening, C. K. Phillips has written a suspense thriller that intertwines a story about the fourteenth century Knights Templar, a native American tribe, treasure on an island off Nova Scotia, and a plot by Mideast terrorists to wreak devastation throughout the world. Kent and Lander, the protagonists, chase these unusual connections leading to a dangerous and dramatic conclusion. I applaud the author’s originality and sense of drama and recommend this book to anyone looking for an action-packed novel.

Comes the Awakening is a novel that begins with an escape from France, and follows the characters through an amazing international adventure! This is the kind of book you want to read in one sitting because there's always another plot twist, and lots of drama.
The main characters are Phil and Cyndi Kent, and their friend Bill Lander. Phil and his wife are staying in Canada while Phil works on his latest novel, but life is interrupted when Phil goes on his morning run and finds the body of man who has been murdered. The story moves very quickly from there, and Bill Lander flies from Minnesota to join his friends in Canada when he's asked to give input on a coin found near the body. First the local sheriff, then the FBI, CIA, and Homeland Security join in on investigating the mystery.
I am definitely looking forward to reading the second book on the series!
I have watched the tv show about the curse of Oak Island and my husband and I enjoy metal detecting. The added terrorists combine for a story that could be a current headline. This plot combined many of the story lines that interest me as a reader. Military., married couple, old friends, intrigue, humor and a good mystery thrown together. At some points the writing was a bit slow, but overall a great read.
New author . Here is your chance to help an aspiring author get off the ground. This thriller is amazing with strong characters a plot that will keep you turning the pages . The setting is Nova Scotia. But the premise is long ago. It's a Dan Brown type book with every page a mystery. It's edge of your seat reading with the ending begging for more. Give this book a try. I promise you want be sorry.!!!!!!!
So, yet another plot to kill many innocent people. I liked how this story tied together the Knights of the Templar and their escape from France, to Oak Island and the hunt for hidden treasure, to a native American tribe in Minnesota, I think. Or was it Montana? I would guess many people are familiar a little bit with the cable tv show about Oak Island. I enjoyed the use of technology by both groups, and wonder a little if some of it has been exaggerated. I don't like to give out many details of the books in the review, but I thought the author did a pretty good job starting out with a run on the beach and finding a dead body.
